PS 130M De Soto School Earn An " All American Distinction School"

Dear Parents:

We just receive good new from Mrs. Woo informing MR. Fong  that our school had earn an " All American Schools " Distinction.

Today's Daily News has an article that talks about how there are great schools in NYC and how they compare to schools around the world: http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/vigdor-mcgee-excellence-aplenty-nyc-public-schools-article-1.2399117.

In the article, it says the following:

"If a school receives an A grade, it means its students are on par with schools from countries at the top of the international education rankings, like South Korea and Finland. Across the five boroughs, 30% of all elementary and middle schools earn an A, beating the national average of 26.5% as well as the New York State average of 22%.

SchoolGrades also draws special attention to what we call “All-American” schools. These are schools that are among the top 4.3% in the nation and serve an economically disadvantaged student body (schools with a free/reduced-lunch percentage at or above the national average of 48%). Only 579 schools out of the more than 70,000 nationwide earn this distinction. Of the 73 All-American schools in New York State, 72 are in New York City."

CONGRATULATIONS....PS 130 MANHATTAN IS ONE OF THOSE 579 SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE TO EARN THE "ALL AMERICAN SCHOOLS" DISTINCTION!!! (please see the attachment I compiled for details).  WHAT A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!

As your former principal, I can't tell you how proud I am of all of you as you continue to bring honor to our school's name and to our community!

BRAVO!!!

My very best wishes for continued success!!!
Mrs. Woo
