Remarks:
- Mr. Fong introduced
the leaders of Impact Coaching Network, Russ and Jenny. 10
Chess lessons will be offered to each student in Grades K-3 during the
school day in the spring. The
afterschool chess program will be offered to paying families.
- Mr.
Fong acknowledged NYU College of Dentistry for their incredible work
bringing dental care to students who would otherwise not have access to
it. Michelle Goldstein mentioned
that NYU Dental currently is at PS 130 on Thursdays in Room 402. NYU dental handed out permission slips in
the beginning of the school year for dental services to be provided to PS
130 students.
- Mr.
Fong thanks the parents association board for yet another successful
Halloween Dance.
- The
PA explained the “administrative cost” in detail on the expense report
- The
PA addresses a parent concerned about used books being discarded.

● Ushma S Neill, Community Education Council liaison spoke:
○ She is a liaison between
parents and electives/superintendent
○ Available to provide support
to school communities, in areas such as funding, G&T, conditions,
screening, buses, etc

parade 2019, showcasing Sesame Street, which some of PS 130’s NDI kids
participated.
○ NDI: 4th graders audition to
be selected to receive tuition-free to the program outside of school time
○ Growth mindset: always learning
and taking risks
○ PS 130 will continue to
instill the joy of reading

Remarks/Announcements
o
Mr. Fong thanked the parents and PA board
members for their continued support of our school
o
From his reading to progress his leadership
skills, Mr. Fong noted to parents the importance of communication and how it is
key in any relationship (i.e. parent/teacher; parent/child). He stressed to parents the importance of
being active in communicating about our children’s day in order to create a
health dialog. This can ensure our children feel comfortable communicating with
us about bigger issues that may arise in the future. This can also help our children open up about
stresses they are experiencing that we may not be aware of
§
Also reminded parents that teachers are available
ever Tuesday afternoon for meetings, by appointment.

Mr.Fong reminded parents about PS 130’s online
donation button located on our schools website and thank those who have already
donated toward our arts program.

Mr.Fong gave parents an update on the ICN chess
program for grades K-3.
o
Mr.Fong revealed to parents our chess groups
name will be “The Dragons of PS 130” and our new logo.
o
Beginning next week 1st and 2nd
grade will begin a 10 week program during school. After that kindergarten and 3rd
grade will begin
o
We are working on starting an after school
program starting in February for all students. The program will cost $510,
