CEC D2 Town Hall Meeting with Chancellor Richard A. Carranza - Tuesday, March 10 - Cancelled

CEC D2

The CEC D2 Town Hall Meeting with Chancellor Richard A. Carranza scheduled for tomorrow,Tuesday,
March 10, 2020 will be Cancelled until further notice.

Dear Families,

The Community Education Council for District 2 recognizes how valuable it is for our community to hear directly from the DOE Chancellor about the educational concerns in our district, however, given the current NYS State of Emergency coupled with advice from public health epidemiologists and local medical institutions to limit non-essential large gatherings in an effort to slow the spread of Covid-19, we have decided to postpone the March 10th Town Hall with the Chancellor as well as our Calendar and Working Business meeting.

Self-quarantine and social distancing are key to slowing the spread of any epidemic, and recent reports have shown that the quarantine measures employed in Singapore and China have slowed the exponential growth of Covid19 in those countries. Northern Italy is also now employing social distancing to slow the rapid infection of its population.

Academic medical institutions NYC such as, NYU, Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Weill Cornell Medicine, Columbia, and Mt. Sinai, have all imposed limits on non-essential travel and have furthermore canceled all seminars, gatherings and large group activities to decrease the chance of Covid19 transmission. Several of those institutions have limited gatherings to 5-25 persons or fewer.

The CECD2 Calendar and Working Business meeting will be held on Tuesday March 31, 2020, location TBD and will be live-streamed. Stay tuned for a date in the coming months for a rescheduled date for the Town Hall with Chancellor Carranza.

All the best,

Maud Maron,
President
