Minutes to PS 130M General Meeting June 4, 2025
Attendance: Lisa Wong, Yvonne Moy, Amy Hu, Joseph Li, Lily Wai-Lee, Jennie Yin, Angela Mui, Ramiro, Mr. Fong, Carmen, Yuki, Charlie, Michelle, and 15 other participants (see sign in sheet, in person)
Meeting Commence: 8:45am
Joseph Li – Co-President
Joe – Good morning, everyone. We have breakfast here, feel free to have some.
Mr. Fong – Let’s give the PA a round of applause, they raised close to $80k at our annual banquet. With losing our Title I funding this money raised means more to our school and students than ever. I appreciate everyone and their efforts and support. Next week I have our budget meeting to see how poor we are. In SLT we talked about the Karate Kid, thanks to the PA and the DOE for orchestrating this surprise event. The DOE doesn’t usually allow such events to happen. A marketing company called Inspired Consumers reached out to us and I reached out to the DOE, and we all made this happen. Inspired Consumers even donated $1500 to our school. This is my last full year here, but I will still be around to help. Like Obama I am leaving with less hair. Chinatown is shrinking, we had 1000 students at one point and like PS. 124 we will have less students in the coming year. We’ll have less than 500 students. The parent’s association is always working so hard, Thank you Joe for your leadership. My door is always open.
Amy – Could we give a big hand to Mr. Fong for all the things he does for us at PS. 130M. Everyone gives Mr. Fong a big round of applause.
Joe – Thank you, Mr. Fong. Let’s start with elections. – We will be handing out a form/ballet for elections.
We have 2 candidates for SLT – Carmen & Yuki
15 people voted for Carmen & 15 people voted for Yuki to be a part of the SLT team.
Joe – welcomes Carmen & Yuki onto the SLT team.
Does anyone want to self-nominate to be a board member? It’s a lot of volunteer work and we don’t get paid but its all worth it for the kids.
Joe closed the self-nomination and the ballots were passed out. We will tally the ballots.
Parents’ Association opening & Review.
