State Senator Kavanagh's Virtual Town Hall - Thursday, April 30

Dear Neighbors:
We have all been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.  Many of us are mourning the loss of family members, friends, and colleagues, and the threat to our health is still very real.  The public health crisis and the ongoing shutdown are also wreaking havoc on the ways we meet our basic needs, and many New Yorkers are worried about our jobs, our homes, our businesses, our children’s education, and our access to food and healthcare, among other things.  My staff and I share these concerns, and we are working tirelessly to identify resources, improve the initial round of relief programs, and develop legislative solutions to address these issues.  You can find out more about these efforts on our website at kavanagh.nysenate.gov.
We are also interested in hearing directly from you.  Please join us for a virtual town hall meeting on Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 p.m.  We will discuss some of the issues that constituents have contacted us about most frequently, with experts to answer your questions.
Here’s the agenda:
  • 7:00p to 8:00p: Issues facing renters, homeowners, and homeless New Yorkers
    • Ellen Davidson, Staff Attorney, Legal Aid Society
    • Joshua Goldfein, Staff Attorney, Legal Aid Society
  • 8:00p to 9:00p: Assistance for small businesses
    • Gregg Bishop, Commissioner, NYC Department of Small Business Services
    • Andrew Flamm, Regional Director, Pace Small Business Development Center
The Town Hall will be streamed live via Zoom and Facebook Live, or you can dial in by phone.  Translation will be available in Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
A flyer for the event is available in Englishin Spanish, and in Chinese, and posted on Twitter and Facebook.  Please feel free to share this invitation with neighbors and other residents of Senate District 26.
Please visit kavanagh.nysenate.gov to RSVP and receive access information, submit questions or comments in advance, or let us know about topics you’d like us to cover in future events.
I hope to see you on Thursday, April 30.  In the meantime, I wish you good health, safety, and solace in this difficult time.  If we can help in any way, please contact us at 212-298-5565 or kavanagh@nysenate.gov.

Sincerely,
Brian Kavanagh
