Dear parent/guardian,
The Gifted & Talented (G&T) application is now open. If you have a child born in 2016 and are interested in G&T programs for your child, be sure to apply by Friday, April 9, 2021.
How to Apply
You can submit your child’s G&T application one of three ways by the April 9 deadline:
- Online with Myschools.nyc —Need help setting up your account? We’ll walk you through the process in this video.
- Through a Family Welcome Center—learn how at nyc.schools.gov/FWC.
- By phone at 718-935-2009
This month, join us for a virtual Gifted & Talented Information Session to learn more! At each event, we’ll share an admissions presentation and answer your questions: find dates, times, and interpretation information for specific sessions on our website. We’ll also provide links to join each online session.
After You Apply
- After you submit your G&T application, your child’s current pre-K program (if they currently attend pre-K) will then complete a questionnaire to confirm your child’s eligibility for G&T. Or, if your child does not currently attend pre-K, our Early Childhood Team will contact you to schedule a virtual interview and then complete this questionnaire.
- In the spring, we’ll contact all families who applied to let you know if your child is or isn’t eligible for G&T seats. Then all eligible children will be considered for admission.
- In the summer, families of eligible children will receive G&T results letters, which may include an offer and/or waitlist information.
- Please note: No applicants will be tested this year for G&T admissions, and this year’s application process is only for children entering kindergarten this fall. G&T offers for children entering first, second, or third grade will be made from last year’s waitlists.
Wishing you the best during this admissions season,
The Gifted & Talented Admissions Team
