March 4, 2021

2. Upcoming Events & Fundraising a. March 4, 2021 - Half Day: Dismissal at 11am b. March 4, 2021 - Virtual Parent Teacher Conference c. March 29 - April 2nd - Spring Recess - Schools closed d. April 5 - Donations for Virtual Auction due, Auction will be held April 12 - 23rd e. PA Goal is Fundraising - to support arts programs for school - can donate through blog
3. Principal Remarks
a. Feeling Grateful for PA in keeping everyone connected
b. 80% of families still remote - hoping everyone is doing well
c. Mood Meter - check up on each other/children to make sure they are doing okay
i. Biggest concern would be when in red and blue moods too long
d. Thanks parents for all the support they have given to their children to help them throughout this time
e. Thankful the Arts programs can keep going; Virtual assembly - Black History and Lunar New Year went very well, over 600 views on YouTube.
f. Standardize and State Testing update:
i
. New President, Superintendent in District 2, Chancellor - many changes in education system in education system ii. Trying to figure out logistics on how to proceed with testing as most kids are still remote
iii. Scheduled for April, but no definite date yet iv. G & T Kindergarten - no testing - but if a child is qualified by recommendation of PreK Teacher or interview with Early Childhood Division, then lottery, and waitlist
A. Previous G & T classes will still continue
1. Parent: “In reference to G & T - a child can only apply if they are recommended by a teacher or Early
Childhood Center?”
Mr. Fong: Will be an application (hasn’t rolled out yet) - PreK Recommendation checkbox. DOE also
has an Early Childhood division to interview children. If qualified - will be lottery 2. Parent: “In terms of 5th grade and graduation, is there any additional information on timelines, planning, etc”
Mr Fong: “Thankful for PA for continuing the tradition of caps/gowns, Graduation will be virtual like
last year, open to suggestions.
Kaitlin: “As far as timeline, we don’t have exact dates yet, still need to have Executive meeting to plan that - needs a lot of manpower”
4. Additional Comments
Lisa: Next week will start to order caps and gowns for students, then will have to start calling parents to schedule a time to come in
