  2.  Upcoming Events & Fundraising

    1.  April 12-23rd - Virtual Fundraiser - Flyers are out, if don’t want to participate, can always       support school by donating to the schools PayPal

    2.  Annual Ask - PayPal, Digital Box tops, matching grants, Amazon Smile

    3.  Thursday, April 29th - Multicultural Show

    4.   Due to ongoing PA guidance, we will be holding expedited elections at the June General        Meeting. Roles available will be: Co-Presidents, Co-Treasurers and Co- Secretaries

  3.  Principal Remarks:

    1.  Thankful for PA for being glue keeping our programs functioning

    2.  Thanks to Ms. Nicklas for translating and bringing back good memories

    3.  Thanking everyone for checking Operoo and communicating to others

    4.  Deadlines - This Friday, April 9 - last day to opt back in to in person learning

      1.  DOE hasn’t provided an official start date for these newly enrolled students.

      2.  About 49 students opting back into in person learning as of April 7

                         iii.  Parent Question: “How does that affect the Cohort schedule?”

                                1.  Mr Fong. “As of right now, it does not. Still have Cohort A & Cohort B, and 
                                     PreK 5  days”
                e.  State Testing

                           i.  ELA, Math and Science exams will be taking place as will NYSESLAT.

                          ii.  Schools will be individually determining the dates for the test

                          iii.  Scheduling for us was sent out via Operoo, (subject to change with)
        
                               1.  3rd Grade - ELA April 20, Math - May 4
         
                               2.  4th Grade - ELA April 21, Math - May 5, Science - June 7
 
                               3.  5th Grade - ELA April 22, Math - May 6

                               4.  NYSESLAT - Starting April 19 through June - will send separate letter to 
                                    those affected. Test will be 4 parts - Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking. 
                                    Must take all 4 or else won’t count.

                          iv.  Deadline to “Opt In” for ELA, Math, Science - April 13th. Must opt in in order 
                                to participate in exam.

                           v.  All State Tests will be Multiple Choice

                          vi.  Unsure as to if some private schools will be asking for test scores, but DOE says 
                                if the child doesn't take the exams, they will not be penalized

                 f.  Separate Townhall will be Monday, April 12th @ 6pm

                g.  Graduation Events for Pre-K, Kindergarten and 5th Grade
          
                     1.  Will still have virtual graduations

                     2.  Celebrations at school are yet to be determined. If anything will be held, will probably 
                           be last week of school

                h.  Parent Questions: “Why do we have a deadline for opting it”
          
                      Mr. Fong: “Need to plan for how many students will be coming into the building to 
                                       allocate spacing within the gym, library and playroom, scheduling will also 
                                       be affected for those days, may be asynchronous”
         
                     Mary Kwok: “If a child opts in and cannot make it, will there be a penalty?” 

                     Mr. Fong: “No, there is a window to re-take, can reach out and still schedule within 
                                      window”

                 i.  NBC Nightly News - approached many Principals - asking if any parents are interested 
                      in speaking with them about any fears parents have on coming back to school, 
                      Anti-Asian violence

                  j.  Thanks PA, Lisa and Yvonne, for behind the scenes organizing for picture days, caps 
                       and gowns, graduation
