Minutes to PS 130M PA General Meeting
May 6, 2021
Meeting Commence: 8:47 AM
1. Roll Call for Attendance
2. Reading and Approval of Minutes: from April 8, 2021; Approved and put on record
3. Treasurer’s Report - April 2021; Approved and put into record
4. Upcoming Events
a. May 6 - Today - 5th Grade State Test (for those who opted in)
b. Scholastic Book Fair - teachers to be in touch with specific days/times - Runs to
the 18th online, 14th in person
c. Thursday, May 13 – Eid al Fitr - no in person/remote classes
d. Monday, May 31st - Memorial Day - no in person/remote classes
e. Friday, June 4th- First Virtual Gala
5. Fundraising
a. Silent Auction didn’t raise significant funds; only a couple of hundred as opposed
to thousands at our typical in-person events.
b. Reminder to share link for PayPal and have friends and family donate
6. New Business
a. We will be holding expedited elections at the general meeting on June 10th.
Roles
available will be Co-Presidents (2), Co-Treasurers (2) and Co-Secretaries
(2). Only core
board positions available due to expedited election. Nominations
will be taken immediately
prior to election, the only qualification for all offices is
being a parent of a child in PS 130M.
7. Principal Remarks:
a. Thankful for PA - always very grateful for their contribution, putting together
Virtual Gala.
b. Thanks to Ms. Nicklas for translating and bringing back good memories.
c. Virtual Shows have been very successful. Hoping all the “views will turn into
dollars” through donations. If anyone knows anyone famous who would like to
speak a couple of
words, let us know.
d. Shared Teacher Appreciation Video from UFT. Thanking our teachers and
parents for
making this year doable
e. State Exams
i. Math State Tests - last day today; will have make up tests next week
ii. Science for 4th grade in June
iii. NYSESLAT occurring
f. Summer Rising
a. DYCD Compass program merged with DOE. Parents are now registering
on DYCD. Schools do not see lists of applicants.
b. Our school capacity is about 250; CPC has advised that over 290 has
already applied
c. No answers yet on who/how applicants are accepted
d. New Programs are to be added every Monday
g. Family Information Session
a. Monday - May 10th
b. NYU Dental will resume their onsite dental check ups
h. Graduations
a. Ceremony to be virtual currently
b. Will have gatherings - 1-hour sessions - last week of June. 2 classes at a
time, outdoors/masks on allowing for students/teachers to come in and
take pictures and
see each other
