Minutes to PS 130M General Meeting

December 2, 2021

 Attendance: Mr. Renny Fong, Kaitlin Fuchs, Damien Driver, Kathy Leung, Karen Ma, Gloria Tsang, Yanna Xu, Amy Hu, Sally Chu, Lisa Wong, Yvonne Moy, Jason Huang, Jennie Yin, Angelica Lai, and 4 other participants (see attendance on record)

Meeting Commence: 8:45am

1.      PA updates by Co- president, Kaitlin Fuchs 

      a.     Welcomes everyone and introduces the executive board members

      b.     Sends out attendance link to be complete by all participants in the chat via                  zoom 

2.      Principal’s Remarks   

      a.     Mr. R. Fong – Thanks the PA for their time to volunteer.   

      b.     Thanks the parents for understanding during these times with cases in the                        school. Know parents are worried. But should reach out to school if need  

      c.     SLT- has healthy budget. SLT will support and fund for any student needs.  

3.      Kaitlin – reviews upcoming event dates for December

      a.     Bake sale – December 8, 2021

      b.     Holiday show will be virtual – December 22, 2021 

      c.     Winter recess (no school) – Dec. 24, 2021 to Jan. 2, 2022

      d.     School resumes - January 3, 2022    

4.      Review November 4, 2021 Minutes – approved and placed on record   

5.      Review November 2021 Treasury Report – approved and placed on record   

6.      Kaitlin calls for 3 motions to vote on budget raise; Gloria Tsang seconds the                    motions. Kaitlin holds Zoom Poll asking eligible members to vote. 

      a.     Student / Teacher appreciation budget raise from $3,000 to $13,000

      b.     Event Coordinator paycheck budget raise back to original from $21,000 to                    $60,000   

      c.     Program Assistant paycheck budget raise back to original from $14,400 to                      $40,000    

      d.     Charlie Zheng (parent questioned) – Does salary budget increase include all                  benefit or just payment to them?

                 Kathy Leung responds it’s just for payroll (payment to them) not benefits.   

           e.     Wilem Wong (parent question) –How many individuals will get these                                payments?  Kaitlin responds just to the event coordinator and her assistant.   She explains that during the beginning of pandemic they didn’t take any salary.  Then during the pandemic (when schools were open) they took a reduced salary, now we want to get them back to their original salary.

                 Wilem responds thank you. I understand now. 

           f.        Wilem Wong (parent question) – Will this be on-going or one time increase?                    Kaitlin responds one-time payment but is a reversal in budget to bring them back to original salary.   

           g.     Poll is held and all 3 motions pass in favor.                      
            Student / Teacher appreciation budget - 100% in favor    

                 Event Coordinator paycheck budget – 92% in favor / 8% abstain

                 Program Assistant paycheck budget - 92% in favor / 8% abstain

     8.      Kaitlin - Vaccine fundraiser – PA is registered for the NYC vaccine PA incentive. Have 128 student referrals to date. Can earn up to $20,000. Funds will go to arts program. Thanked Jennie Yin for creating incentive flyers and Lisa and Yvonne for helping families with translating. Vaccine truck here till 4pm. Essex Crossing also spot to get vaccinated and referral for PA incentive. Jennie Yin puts referral link in chat.  

     

     9.      Kaitlin shows flyer with site and scan code. UFT request parents to sign petition for smaller class sizes. Petition also on PA blog. Visit uft.org/petition.
