Minutes to PS 130 General Meeting
February 3, 2022

Attendance: Mr. Renny Fong, Kaitlin Fuchs, Damian Driver, Kathy Leung, Lisa Wong, Yvonne Moy, Karen Ma, Gloria Tsang, Yanna Xu, Amy Hu, Sally Chu, Jennie Yin, Alice Chen, Steven Chen, Jayden Chan, Lily Wai-Lee, and 6 other participants (see attendance on record)

1.      PA updates by Co- president, Kaitlin Fuchs

a.     Welcomes everyone and introduces the executive board members

b.     Sends out attendance link to be complete by all participants in the chat via zoom

2.      Kaitlin – reviews upcoming event dates for February

a.     Lion Dance outside of school at 5:30p – Monday - February 7, 2022

b.     Bake Sale – Wednesday - February 9, 2022

c.     Chinese New Year Show – live stream-  Wednesday – February 16, 2022

d.     Chinese New Year Parade – 5th grade Lion Dance Club – Sunday - February 20, 2022

e.     Mid-Winter recess (no school) – Monday, February 21th – Friday, February 25th 

3.      Review January 6, 2022 Minutes – Does not need to be voted in.  Approved and placed on record with changes.

4.      Review of January 2022 Treasury Report – approved and placed on record. Also posted on PA Blog.

5.      Ongoing fundraisers – Kaitlin goes over 3 links for donations

6.      Principal’s Remarks

a.     Mr. R. Fong – Wishes Happy New Year and good health to all. Year of tiger represents power, strength and resilience.

b.      Thanks the PA for their support.

c.     February is also Black History Month. There will be a virtual assembly of Black History on last day of month. Ms. Thomas obtained special guests to speak to virtual show.

d.     Covid update

i.        Trying to get every child 2 test kits to bring home before the mid-winter recess. To test before returning back to school.

ii.       Starting next week will be upping the number to get tested. It was 18 children per week. Now will be 40-50 children per week. Cases have dropped but we still need to practice social distancing and masking. Last Friday was the first day there were 0 cases.

iii.      Encourage getting fully vaccinated. Pre-k class got out of control. If not vaccinated, child might need to stay home 18-20 days. New flow chart had been sent. For fully vaccinated, day 0 is positive then can come back on day 6 fully masked.

e.     New mayor has new incentive for lunch: Vegan Fridays. Will need to let   families know starting tomorrow. No dairy items such as cheese or cream   cheese. Peanut butter and jelly and sun butter are vegan, can be used   on bread.

f.        New arts partner – Dance to Unite. Teaches social emotion through dance for 3rd graders. School will pay for it. Mr. Fong sends link in chat. http://dancetounite.org

g.     Thanks Sally Chu for chess support. Chess is wrapping up for Fall session. Chess at PS130M will provide for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade for next session. Fridays afterschool is outside of school time.

h.      Yesterday PA distributed red envelopes. Miss hearing the laughter in     hallway. Thanking PA for all the hard work.
