6. Principal’s remarks
a. Mr. Renny Fong – Thank you to the PA.

  1. Every 5th grader has Rosie theater kids’ program. It was started by Rosie O’Donnell, so that every 5th grader can experience Broadway’s song & dance. Last week I went to a special show, there is a documentary on paramount + and I got to see our alumni on the documentary with actor B.D. Wong. B.D. Wong is a board member of RDK, he known for being on a lot of shows but mostly for Law & Order.

  2. Mr. Fong shows us a slide of who is on the advisory board, points out Zi Ying Cao. Ms. Cao is an analyst for BNP Paribas CIB, she is an alumni of RTK. She got a scholarship through RDK all the way through high school. She lives in Essex area and now an investment banker. She was the first kid who got over $100,000 for college scholarship. This is the power of arts; some kids didn’t know they can shine like this and know she is a board member.

  3. There is a performer that is still in RTK that attends Lower East Side prep high school, he is trying to get more Asian kids into the program.

  4. AAPI – an alumni came back from Pepsi Cola to bring in Artwork with our second graders.

  5. DOE – is going to have Asian American Islander Pacific curriculum. One class is going to polit this program. The Chancellor may come to our school to listen to Voices of 130. The Arts shows you how much it can do for the kids. Thank you for all supporting it.

  6. Last time I was in a conference, and they introduced the book “Mircale Morning”. I gave as copy to the staff so that they can read it and share it. Since reading this book I have been waking up earlier than his family, where its still dark and I have been doing my peloton app for 20 minutes. I’ve been doing this to better myself, his family, his school, and his students. Please take care of yourself.

  7. Covid is still here, my son got it in the summer then my wife and other son got it 10 days before Thanksgiving; luckily, they were still able to enjoy Thanksgiving. So please take care of yourself, this weather doesn’t help either.

  8. Thank you and congratulations to the 5th graders for applying for Middle school. The deadline was supposed to be today.
Parent – said the deadline has been extended to the 5
    th.
Thank you, Ms. Levanoni and the PA for helping in this process.

  9. Elementary school & G&T is upon us, it used to be 2 separate applications but now its on the same application. You can apply for both G&T and regular and rank your schools. Last time you only get excepted to 1 program for the school. In the past it was unfair to be pulled out from 1 school to another or another class, so they put it on 1 application. This just came out yesterday. Thanks to parents like Jenny for e-mailing me last night & our secretary Ms. Ellis just notified us as well.

If there is anything we can help let us know. We are all here to help you and your kids

Without all the fundraising, Lisa tireless work we would not have all the Art programs

Last week we had a nice Thanksgiving gathering with the 5th grade families. Its so nice to have our families back in the school

There are online resources for help that your students can use. The more these resources are used the kids can win gift cards. Damien asked about IXL, we have resubscribed to IXL. The teachers will let you know when you can have access to it. We pay thousands and thousands of dollars for these programs. We want to make sure your kids use them. We also have iReady that has access to math & reading, after their assessment they can still use it

Parent – Reading programs, is Epic, because its cuts off at a certain time. Karen – you can subscribe to Epic for longer access for about $7 a month with promotion

Any questions?

Thank you and happy holidays.

Closing time – 9:20am – next general meeting is Thursday 1/5/23
