Minutes to PS 130M General Meeting May 5, 2023
Attendance: Mr. Renny Fong, Lisa Wong, Yvonne Moy, Gloria Tsang, Yanna Xu, Amy Hu, Joseph Li, Alice Chen, Karen Ma, Michelle, Sally, Lily and 18 other participants (see sign in sheet, in person)

Good morning, everyone, (In Chinese, Spanish, English)
Welcome everyone to the meeting, one more month till the end of the
year. Congratulations to all the 5th graders for getting into Middle
school.

Here are the minutes from last month’s meeting for review and to be approved. 2 people approved the minutes, minutes are placed on record and will be posted on the PA blog site.

Karen – Our Biggest Annual Banquet is coming up very soon and we are still selling raffles tickets.
Joe – come look for me, I’m still selling tickets.
Karen – and me too, lol. Come look for me at the health fair this Saturday.
Joe – Ladies, anything your husband gave you and you don’t want please feel free to bring it in to the PA as a raffle prize.
Karen – Anyone coming to the banquet?
Karen – We would like to give a big thank you to Ms. Woo, she started a Fundraiser for her birthday on Facebook and she donated all the proceeds to the PA.
Joe – My birthday is in seven days... lol.We are going to hold board member nominations now. We need board members for the fall.
3. Anyone who wants to be nominated or nominate someone please speak up. You can also self-nominate yourself.We have 2 positions up for nomination for Co-President, who wants to be nominated? A parent nominates Joseph Li, 2 people voted and agreed on the nomination.

The position for Co-President – we have Joseph Li nominated.
We have 2 positions up for nomination for Co-Treasurer, who wants to be nominated?
Yanna nominates Alice Chen, 2 people voted and approved the nomination. Karen nominated Gloria Tsang, 2 people voted and approved the nomination.
The position for Co-Treasurer – we have Alice Chen and Gloria Tsang as nominees.
We have 2 positions up for nominations for Co-Secretary, who wants to be nominated?
Yanna nominates Amy Hu, 2 people voted and approved the nomination.
Anyone else want to be nominated or nominate themselves for the other seat for Co-Secretary? No answer.
The position for Co-Secretary – we have Amy Hu nominated.
Anyone other parents want to join to be PA board members may also do so next month as we will hold our election then for the upcoming year.

A round of applause for the PA, especially during ELA testing week; they were just sitting there for hours.

Tomorrow, we have the health fair, finally the weather is nice. On a lot of our past health fair days, the weather was rainy. We have a lot of vendors coming so please come by and enjoy the day with us. I will be there a little later, but I shall see you guys there tomorrow. Councilman Marte will be coming by as well; he wants a photo with everyone. The lights in the show, our borough president and councilman help us get them. We will hopefully have the roof done soon too.

The benefit banquet is smaller now because House of Joy is smaller than where we used to have our benefit, at Jing Fong, everything is smaller. Please come join us at the Banquet.

Can’t believe it’s one more month left of the school year.

If no one contests, we can confirm the nominations in June.

Teacher’s appreciation week is next week.

Next year in kindergarten we will have 2 G&T classes. We had 75 lower applications so to build up PS. 130 we got approved for 2 G&T classes and 2 general classes. The superintendent approved to build-up PS. 130. 9 years ago, we had 1000 students and now we have 675 students. Before our new students came along, we had 615 students.
Summer Rising, we are expecting to at least have 300 students. PS.2 and PS. 130 will hold summer rising; other schools are under renovations.
