  • -  Do we have any issues we want to bring up here?

1.  Review of the minutes & Treasury reports from our last meeting in October 2023.

              i.  T

hese are the minutes for review and to be approved from our last meeting in October; 5 people approved the minutes; minutes are placed on record and will be posted on the PA blog site. Thank you!

ii.  This is the treasury report for review and approval; 6 people approved the treasury report. Thank you! This will be posted on the PA blog site.

         Any questions?

2.  Upcoming events – November 2023

              -  Photos are due tomorrow – 11/3/23 and makeup day for the kids that were absent is Friday - 11/10/23.
              -  Book Fair – Friday 11/3/23 and Monday 11/6/23.
              -  Bake Sale – Thursday - 11/9/23.

Joe – if you guys have any ideas for fundraising, please let us know.

Carmen – Crispy Crème coupons, I’ll show you what I’m talking about. Joe, yes, please come into the PA room to let us know.

A parent – How about an Alumni reunion; I was at a store, and I was wearing my PS. 130 shirt and a person came up to me. She said she had to come talk to me because she was an alumnus. She was a proud alumnus. We can engage our alumni for a reunion fundraiser.

Joe – I know some schools do, do this but mostly at a high school level but not really at an elementary level.

Mr. Fong – maybe we can gather a list and see who’s interested.
3.  PA Fundraising for 2023-2024
    • -  Bake Sale
    • -  Candy Sale
    • -  Annual Ask
    • -  Photo day
    • -  Scholastic Book Fair

4.  The PA Funds these Programs and more
Our Art Programs & est. costs (last year)
             - NDI – 1st grade & 4th grade - $17,500
             -  Inside Broadway – Pre-k to 2nd Grade -$18,480
             -  Third Street Music School – Violin (beginners & Advance) - $10,880
             -  Ballroom Dancing - $9,520
             -  School Chorus – Voices of 130
             -  Spirit of PS 130 – Fife & Drum - $8,400
             -  Young People Chorus (YPC) – $8,650
             -  PS130M Lion Dance - $3,900
             -  Rosie’s Theater Kids - $8,650
             -  Dance to Unite - $7500

The PA also pays for some of the school supplies such as:
             -  Air conditioners and repairs - $11,000
             -  Office copier, toners, computers, and supplies - $12,000
             -  Student appreciation events - $12,000 (we currently have 580 students)

This is why the PA fundraises so much and so hard, to cover all these extra things that the DOE has no budget for it. The PA covers all the school items other than the Art programs. Please ask your company to help us, ask them for donations as well.

Our Annual Banquet is set for May 17, 2024, it’s our biggest fundraising event. There you will see all the talents from the Art programs being showcased. These programs do recruit from our school to attend their more intensive programs at their sites.

Joe- ticket and raffle tickets will be for sale.

Jennie – They also have Ads for sale that will be printed on the programs for the banquet.

Joe – some families bought a page to put the classroom pictures and events on them.

WOW! Thanksgiving already.

We are giving thanks to all the parents who supported the PA.

Joe – Welcome Mr. Fong.

Principal remarks

Mr. Fong – Thank you and thank you to the PA.

Today is half a day because of PTC, and it’s virtual but you can always meet with the teachers anytime. They have allotted time in the morning before class starts. Some have already met with the teachers in advance for PTC.

Tuesday 11/7/23- no school, election day.

Thank you to the PA for all their support, even the Acs are paid by them. The DOE pays for some... but not all of them.

Joe – Thank you Mr. Fong for being the star of the Halloween party and for Ms. Bradford even though she had a cold.

Mr. Fong – Thank you for coming.

Joe – we still need volunteers for the bookfair.

Closing time – 9.05am – next general meeting will be Dec 7, 2023.
