Attendance: Mr. Fong, Lisa Wong, Yvonne Moy, Amy Hu, Joseph Li, Lily Wai Lee, Ana Fung, Gloria Tsang, Jennie, Angela Mui, 8 other participants (see sign in sheet, in person)

Meeting Commence: 8:46 am
Translator: no need for translation for today’s meeting

Joseph Li – Co-President

Joe – Good morning, welcome back to April’s general meeting. My name is Joe and I have a 5th and 3rd grader here. Do we need any translation today? No show of hands.

Principal remarks:

Mr. Fong – Good morning, I’m grateful to our families, yesterday we had our NDI finale for our 1st graders. They did a great job, and we want to thank everyone for their support for the Arts.

There is a multi-language workshop on the intrepid for immigrant families on Wednesday 4/17/24 which is the same day as our bake sale.

At our SLT meeting I mentioned that 50% of our 100 5th graders got into their first choice. Ms. Levanoni, with her experience gave our 5th grade families a jump start by having a townhall meeting to inform families to go on and add their students to the waitlist of the schools they did not get into because its time stamped. The notice for Chinese translations goes out the following week which is a disadvantage to our Asian families due to the time stamp. Very grateful for Ms. Levanoni to giving our families a even start.

Next week, there is no school on Wednesday 4/10/24 for Edi. Next week our 3rd and 4th graders will take their ELA state exams on 4/11/24 and 4/12/24. Our 5th graders will take them on 4/15/24 and 4/16/24 on the computers for the first time. Some schools will be taking it earlier but luckily, we were able to elect to take them separately.

May 4th is our Health Fair, thank you to the PA for all their support. Next year we will continue to have 2 G&T kindergarten classes. Families have started to register already.

Next Tuesday Channel 25 and the mayor will be coming to our school to shoot footage of our students and school as a backdrop for their videos.

Thank you and let us know if you need anything. Parents’ Association opening & Review.

Joe - Let’s get started for the April meeting.

Upcoming PA board nominations and elections are coming up. Job descriptions & positions will be posted on our IG & opperoo.

Anyone want to come and help me out?

Lily – explaining our IG. It’s not an official school IG, it’s a PA IG informational page.

Jennie – wants to know if it’s a private or public page.

Lily – Some PA IGs is private, and some aren’t. We are using it as another tool of communication and it’s mostly informational.

Parent – what’s good about the IG page is that we can see who’s following our IG page.

Angela – we can see what other schools are doing and it’s actually a great way for parents to see what’s happening in the school. It can be a great way to promote community base events and the school because I did look up schools through social media when choosing a school. It’s great especially for the newer generation to see the activity in the school.

Lily – everything is a work in progress, we will discuss further on how to use the IG page. We would most likely only post pictures of events and back or side profiles of our kids performing during our many art programs. So far, the general idea of the IG page is for sharing information, promotion, and to generate more traffic towards our school and its fundraising events and efforts.

            Any questions?

You can stop by the PA anytime you have an idea or any questions or concerns.

Thank you, we will see you all at next month’s meeting.

Closing time – 9:08am – next general meeting will be May 2, 2024.
