Joe – Welcome back to our last meeting. Thank you for coming back to our June Meeting. We must have an election for next year’s SLT & Board members.
A: Jennie (SLT Member)- Hi, I’m Jennie Yin. I’m here to run the elections for PA Board members, School Leadership Team (SLT) members, and Title 1 PAC Chairperson for the upcoming school year 2024/2025.
President or Co-Presidents (2 positions open)
Secretary or Co-Secretary (2 positions open)
-Nominations for all positions have been taken from the floor during the May meeting. We currently do not have more nominees than positions available. But if any parent expresses an interest to self-nominate for the role today, I will take nominations from the floor when I get to that position. If there are no additional nominees, I will make a motion to approve, followed with a second motion.
-The only qualification for each of the officers is that the candidate be a parent of a child at PS 130M.
-The term of office shall be from July 1st through June 30th. Term limits for each officer position for the PA shall be three consecutive one-year terms. A parent may be elected for a fourth term in the same office provided no other parent is nominated and willing to serve.
A quick note about if you are thinking about joining the PA board and what type of work is involved. You should be able to work collaboratively as a team with a range of parents and guardians. Be willing to fundraise! Work with the goal of fostering PS 130’s administrative team’s vision for the school. Approximately 10-15 hours of volunteer week per week; this can be much more during our holidays and peak fundraising seasons. Be willing to learn A-660 guidelines and ensure compliance.

Joe – For the SLT Team, we need at least 2 parents to run and for Title I, we need 1 parent.
Jennie – The job description for being a SLT member: we meet 1x a month at 7:45am in an office by the administration office. The SLT team consists of parents, PA board members, and UFT & Administration leaders. The SLT team discusses school policies and plans for the next school year. We also talk about safety concerns from higher to lower levels. These meetings are open meetings, any parent can attend these meetings but are not allowed to talk unless you are a member. I encourage parents to attend these meetings.
Charlie – I also encourage parents to attend these meetings so they will be updated with the school community.
Joe – Do we have 2 parents who would like to be a part of the SLT team? Jennie & Charlie are willing to continue to be a part of the SLT Team.
Joe – Show of hands for Jennie & Charlie to stay on as SLT members.
