Welcome Principal Ms. Beena Thomas.
Ms. Thomas - We made it! We have spring break.
There is no new news to report regarding the budget. We are waiting on the budge update regarding class size. Class size reductions have made a difference. You see it in some of the classes, particularly the second and third grades.
As for middle school, there will be a virtual evening session this evening with Ms. Moe.
On April 24, 2026, there will be a school tour of PS 130 because families that were offered seats for their children in Pre-K and Kindergarten might want to see the school.
State testing will occur right after spring break. The tests will be taken on computers. ELA/Math tests will be taken by students in the third through sixth grades. The state science exam will be taken by fifth grade students.
If anyone has questions or concerns regarding school, you can always contact Ms. Thomas by email. Her door is always open. She has set up her office on the second floor.
Parent Question – Is state science test optional?
Answer – No, the test is only for the fifth-grade students. It is scheduled for May 12, 2026.
Thank you.
Joe – Reading and approval of minutes and Treasury reports, upcoming events. Parents’ Association opening & Review.
Here are last month’s meeting minutes to be reviewed and approved. They will be posted on the PA Blog site.
-
These are the minutes for review and to be approved from our last meeting in March, 9 people approved the minutes; minutes are placed on record. Thank you!

This is the treasury report for review and approval; 10 people approved the treasury report. The Treasury report is placed on record. Thank you!
We have only reached about 50% of our fundraising goal with approximately 3 months of the school year left. It’s been tough to fundraise. We are still looking for ideas. We recently held the read-a-thon. Thank you to Carmen & Yuki for spearheading that effort. Unfortunately, it was not as successful as last year. It’s possible it was because of the mid-winter break in between.
