8. Principal’s Remarks
a. Mr. R. Fong – Thanks Katilin
and Wei Min translating and the PA for their support.
b. Thanks to the PA and the
community we were able to raise $20k from vaccinations incentives.
c. The New Chancellor has been
on the job about 8 weeks now and I’m sure there will be trickledown effect
for any changes down the road. Yesterday chancellor Banks made a speech that
was about 6/7-page long transcript of his envisions for the schools. The
transcript will be sent out to parents. He wants to increase G&T. P.S. 130
still has 3 Kindergarten G&T classes, which helps with enrollment.
d. Middle school deadlines were
pushed back but thanks to Ms. Levanoni for helping all the 5th
graders get enrolled in middle school.
e. End of March – ELA Testing
from the 29th to the 31st.
f. Tips on preparing for the ELA
testing
i. Getting
enough rest before the test
ii. Having
a good mental state by just telling yourself to do your best. My mother, God
rest her soul, always told me “Just do your best”.
iii. Stamina
– one of the best things for testing is having good stamina and you get that by
practicing and reading longer periods of time. Without this its harder to focus
on testing.
g. Mr. R. Fong thanks to all the
families for being the best and our PA for the Lunar New Year Programs. Ms.
Bradford for helping and doing a good job for the world to see.
h. Masks – Monday March 7, 2022,
they are going to make masks optional for indoors and outdoors. We shall see
how things go and everyone feels, but it might take some time to phase out.
i. This might be our last
virtual meeting. We shall see how things go and if numbers are still low, we
might have in person meetings. We will slowly let parents back into the school.
j. Thank you, Ms. Nicklas, for
making me sound better and for doing this remotely.
