Parenting & 2024 New Year's Resolutions: Children Often Mirror Their Parents Habits

New Year's resolutions are often aimed at improving bad habits - whether making plans for a better diet and nutrition, or a regular fitness plan, to reduced screen time vs. more time outdoors in nature. One of the key responsibilities of a healthy parent is to role model good habits that lead to day-to-day productivity and success vs. bad habits that are counter-productive or unproductive. Whether teaching good habits like the importance of dental hygiene and brushing your teeth twice a day to the benefits of drinking water vs. sugary drinks/sodas, there are so many ways parents can teach children new and healthy habits. New Year's resolutions are a great way to get the ball rolling, so to speak.

Below are some some articles and resources to inspire your ideas for new and healthy habits for the whole family.

MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY IS JANUARY 15TH

Martin Luther King day is observed the 3rd Monday in January. It is a federal holiday established in 1983 after years of activism and advocacy by Dr. King supporters. MLK Day is a day to celebrate and remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was a leading spokesperson for non-violent activism during the Civil Rights Movement, which protested racial discrimination in state and federal laws. He is remembered for his message of equality, justice and social unity. MLK Jr. Park, located adjacent to the Henry Street Settlement historic headquarters at 265 Henry Street, NY, NY was established in 1993 and is free and open to the public. Come visit!
