PS 130M - End of School Message from Principal Fong
June 30th, 2022
Dearest Families of PS 130,
Congratulations! WE MADE IT! 😄 We cannot thank you enough for partnering with us to make the most of every day for your children this past school year. Thank you for all of your tremendous work and for your ongoing commitment and support despite all the challenges and obstacles that we faced together. It was the greatest joy having all of our children learning in person and seeing them strive and thrive!
It continues to be an honor to serve our school and community. We are truly grateful to our families, all of our staff members, our Parents Association, and our entire community. All of your hard work, trust, love and support continue to make all the difference.
We also want to also thank you so much for your patience and understanding, as we know there continue to be ongoing updates and changes. Please stay updated this summer by checking our school’s website,
https://www.ps130m.org, or Parents Association Website, http://ps130pa.blogspot.com/, along with subscribing to updates on the NYCDOE website, https://www.schools.nyc.gov. We will also send announcements and forms via Operoo, so please make sure you check your messages regularly. Class assignments for the next school year will be sent out via Operoo in late August.
We want to congratulate our Pre-Kindergartners, Kindergartners, and Fifth Graders on their in-person graduations and ceremonies last week! It was so nice to see so many of our families back at the school and in the building once again! For all our families not returning next year, we wish you all the very best, and please reach out if we can be of any help or support.
We want to congratulate everyone for successfully completing another most challenging school year at Public School 130 Manhattan! We wish everyone a restful, peaceful, and joyful summer. Remember to keep checking in with your children with how they are feeling, and please remember to take good care of yourselves, too! Be kind to yourselves! :)
Please send lots of hugs and love to all of our children! 💗
Sincerely,
Mr. Fong

PS 130M - A Message and Updates From Principal Fong
PS 130 Hernando De Soto (Manhattan)
Dearest Families,
We wanted to wish a Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all those who are celebrating today. ☘
We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during these tumultuous times, and we wanted to continue to offer our help and support to the entire PS 130 Community. One of our biggest hopes is for our children is to feel safe in this world, and we know that so much is happening around us right now that is making this extremely challenging for all of us.
Let us keep communicating with our children, check in with them, and speak to them about how they are feeling. Let us encourage them to share their thoughts, and ask them what we can do together to help support one another. We certainly do not have all the answers, but we can show our love and support by letting them know how much we love and care for them, always.
Thank you all so much for partnering and working so hard together with us and for all of your love, support, patience, and understanding through these unprecedented and most challenging of times. We are truly grateful to work alongside every one of you as we can continue to do our very best for our children.
We will have a Family Information Session/Town Hall on Monday, March 22, 2021 via Zoom at 6PM to provide a space to connect and answer any questions and concerns that you may have.

Respect For All and Sexual Harassment Prevention Letter and Brochures

October 15th, 2020Dear Parents and Students:
Each student and staff member brings to our school community the richness of our city’s cultural diversity
and the desire for respect. We are committed to promoting respect for diversity among students and
between students and staff so that all of our students feel valued, safe and supported.
It is the policy of the New York City Department of Education (DOE) to maintain a safe and supportive
learning and educational environment that is free from harassment, intimidation and/or bullying, sexual,
harassment, and discrimination on account of actual or perceived race, color, age, creed, ethnicity, national
origin, citizenship/immigration status, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual
orientation, disability, or weight.
It is a violation of DOE policy for any DOE employee to discriminate against or create a hostile environment
for a student by conduct and/or verbal or written acts on school property, or at a school function, on the
basis of any of the above-noted grounds. Please see Chancellor’s Regulation A-830 for additional
information regarding this policy.
It is also a violation of DOE policy and of the Citywide Behavioral Expectations to Support Student Learning
(DOE’s Discipline Code; https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/know-your-rights/discipline-code) for any student to discriminate against
another student on account of actual or perceived race, color, creed, ethnicity, national origin,
citizenship/immigration status, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation,
disability, or weight, or to harass, intimidate or bully another student or to sexually harass another student.
Please see Chancellor’s Regulations A-831 and A-832 (https://www.schools.nyc.gov/about-us/policies/chancellors-regulations/volume-a-regulations), and the Discipline Code, for additional
information regarding DOE’s policy.
It is further the policy of the DOE to prohibit retaliation against any student, parent, or DOE employee who
in good faith reports or participates in an investigation of allegations of student-to-student harassment,
intimidation and/or bullying, sexual harassment, and discrimination.
Our school’s Respect for All (RFA) Liaison(s) to whom students and parents can make reports of student-to-
student discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying, is (are) Ms. Sharon Levanoni, School
Counselor.
Our school’s Sexual Harassment Prevention (SHP) Liaison to whom students and parents can make reports
of student-to-student sexual harassment is also Ms. Sharon Levanoni, School Counselor.
The RFA and SHP Liaisons can be reached by calling the school at 212-226-8072 or at
slevano@schools.nyc.gov.
Students, parents, and individuals other than staff may report allegations of student-to-student
discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying or student-to-student sexual harassment verbally, or in writing, by submitting a Complaint/Reporting Form (https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/school-environment/respect-for-all), to
the principal/designee or the RFA or SHP liaison, or any other school staff member, or via the online portal available at https://www.nycenet.edu/bullyingreporting.
Any student or parent of a student who feels that the student has been discriminated against by a DOE
employee may file a complaint with the DOE’s Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) by contacting:

Gender-based discrimination and harassment (including sexual harassment), whether by a staff member or a student, can also be reported to our district’s Title IX Coordinator at Title_IX_Inquiries@schools.nyc.gov.
Some of the conduct that is prohibited by Chancellor’s Regulations A-831 and A-832 is also prohibited by Title IX, which is a federal law prohibiting sex discrimination and harassment in schools and DOE’s programs and activities. The U.S. Department of Education recently adopted new regulations which revise the type of behavior prohibited by Title IX and the procedures for investigating allegations of Title IX student-on- student sexual harassment, stalking, domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault. In some cases, depending on the nature of the allegations, the Title IX Team will conduct its own separate investigation, in addition to the investigation conducted by the school. If this occurs, a member of the Title IX team will reach out to you. Please refer to the Title IX webpage [https://www.schools.nyc.gov/about-us/policies/non- discrimination-policy/title-ix] for additional information regarding Title IX and the new regulation.
We look forward to a productive school year as we work together to promote Respect for All (https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/school-environment/respect-for-all). Please feel free to contact me or our schools RFA and SHP
liaisons if you have any questions regarding this issue.
Sincerely,

Principal Fong

Dearest Families of PS 130,
We hope everyone is doing well, and we are excited to start the new school year with you virtually on September 16th. We want to thank our families for being so patient and understanding with all the changes and updates that have been happening. Our teachers have reported back to school this week and are working hard to get ready to receive your children, whether in person or online. There have been some shifts in programming students and staff, due to updated guidelines, so we have been making the necessary adjustments in order to maintain safety and to make things work as best as possible. Some families have already been contacted about changes and some may still be contacted, and we truly thank you for your flexibility and understanding.
